Seeing Media Change - GREAT new blog.

Tags: , , , , , , .

I've discovered a new must-check blog that focuses on the changes going on in the world of Community Media, which means I have something other than Unmediated, Media Policy Blog and PEGspace to check twice a day! It's named "Community Media In Transition" and its primarily edited by the excellent Colin Rhinesmith whose previously spearheaded both ACMEBoston and Media Berkman. Colin is now pursuing a Masters at Emerson and plans to study Community Media (aka Public Access), and its rapidly increasing collision with the cybersphere. Colin has the benefit of a background in traditional media production but with the point-of-view of someone who has been watching the personal media revolution from within as a practitioner, activist, and academic. He led much of the local (Boston) fight for Net Neutrality and simultaneously understands the connection to local franchising. It should be clear by now that I've been a fan of Colin's work for a while, but even with high expectations I was impressed by Community Media in Transition. Of course it didn't hurt that I had a great interview with one of my favorite developers, Ben Sheldon, specifically talking about MappingAccess.
